Our Wild Backyard
What is our Wild Backyard?
When it was time for us to leave Akron, we knew we wanted a place where we could enjoy nature. Not like surviving naked in the wilderness and living off of moss enjoy, though. Rather, we wanted a home with plenty of green space and good neighbors more than ten feet away. We also knew we wanted to develop the landscape into a healthy environment that was beneficial to native wildlife.
When we got the opportunity to achieve that goal we went to work.
Motivated by a growing movement that encourages backyard restoration we began to change the property into an environment that will aid wildlife and counteract the effects of habitat fragmentation.
Doing so is not as daunting or intensive as you would think. Summit Metro Parks and their "Grow a Wild Back Yard" program outlines how to take small actions that can make big impacts to a property, residential or otherwise. See the outline of the program here.
So, we welcome you follow our efforts as we work on our restoration and rehabilitation to create our wild backyard.
